The Spitfire of the Royal Air Force is known as a masterpiece fighter of World War II. Its major feature is adopting an elliptical main wing design, contributing to its excellent flight performance. Its maiden flight was made in 1936. In 1939, the first mass-produced Mk. I appeared. After that, numerous types were subsequently developed through continuous improvements. Among them, Mk. IX was deployed in units in 1942. The engine is a Merlin 60 series with a two-stage, two-speed supercharger. The maximum speed was 650km/h. The Spitfires played a leading role in various variants from the early stages of the Battle of Britain to the Normandy landings and throughout the war until its conclusion.
