The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet is an advanced version of the F/A-18C/D Hornet and entered service in 1999. Its larger fuselage and increased fuel tank capacity provide an extended cruising range. Two F414-GE400 turbofan engines power the aircraft, while its larger fuselage features 11 hardpoints, in addition to the standard 20mm M61A1 Vulcan cannon. These hardpoints are capable of operating a variety of weapons, including missiles like the AIM-120A and bombs. The Super Hornet is known for its versatility, and the US Navy Strike Fighter Squadron VFA-27 has been operating a single-seat F/A-18E since 2004, showcasing its capability to perform multiple missions with just one aircraft.
