About the Aircraft
The first variable wing fighter developed by the Soviet Union is the MiG-23 Frogger. The early mass-produced model MiG-23M first flew in 1972. After that, various types were made, and one of them is the fighter-bomber MiG-23BN, NATO reporting name "Frogger H". The nose shape was changed to increase the forward and downward visibility from the cockpit, and the main feature was the armors on the sides of the cockpit. In addition, the pylons have been added to ensure a maximum weapon loading capacity of 4 tons. The engine was powered by one R-29-300 (R-29A) turbojet. Production started in 1974, and it was deployed and active not only in the Soviet Air Force but also in the Warsaw Pact countries.
